The paper discusses the results of research on tarnishing and corrosion of most commonly used copper alloys, including: ETP copper, brass (CuZn37, CuZn15), tin bronze (CuSn6, CuSn12, CuSn18), aluminium bronze (CuAl10Ni5Fe4), copper-nickel alloys (CuNi10Fe1Mn, CuNi15Sn8), nickel silvers (CuNi12Zn20, CuNi18Zn20). In particular, the paper discusses laboratory experiments on corrosion tests of the materials in a highly aggressive chloride vapor environment. Experiments cover different parameters such as time of exposition as well as different compositions of the materials. Investigations include characterization of the corrosion products on the surface of various copper alloys.
