Increasing of raw material base of PJSC “Chelyabinsk zinc plant” is realized by means of processing increasing volume of Zn-containing residues of Russia metallurgical production. Last 10 years showed the following tendencies: a) It is necessary to correct separate design decisions, including: - Charge pelletizing unit; - Recycling material collecting; - Gas cooling; - Waelz oxides collecting. b) It is necessary to improve Waelz-process by means of: - Steam usage during blowing; - Increasing of the furnace mouth area; - Lime feed in discharge end; - Chlorinator PJSC “CZP” has developed a project and is busy implementing the treatment of oxidized zinc containing by-products in large-size tube kilns. The material is subjected to Waelz processing in a kiln of L = 60 m and  4 m. The off gas heat is utilized for steal production in a boiler. Waelz oxide is subjected to calcinations in a tube kiln of L = 40 m and  2.5 m. Calcined Waelz oxide is leached with subsequent production of zinc containing solution used for zinc and indium recovery. To reduce indium losses in slag, the addition of chlorinator at the discharge end of the Waelz kiln is used.
