Low melting alloys on the basis of tin are suitable for various scopes such as soldering, surface
coatings or components with good sliding properties like bearings. Using statistical methods in
MODDE 7™ the design of experiments is performed. Based on the obtained information certain
alloys are produced. The application of optical microscopy as well as scanning electron microscopy
enables the analysis of present phases with regard to frequency of occurrence and microstructure.
Besides, differential scanning calorimetry is utilized in order to identify phase formation
temperatures.
