According to the industrial emission guideline 2010/75/EU (IED), the condition for the approval
and operation of production plants in the NE metal industry is the application of best available technology
(BAT) for the observance of requested emission limit values. In this connection outstanding
importance is given to the fabric filter. Beside a high-effective separation of particles and particulate
heavy metals, fabric filters are also used for the separation of gaseous pollutants such as acid
crude gas pollutants (HF, HCl, SOx, P2O2), heavy metals as e. g. Hg- and As-compounds as well as
dioxins / furans. The separation of all components often takes place simultaneously in one stage.
Component parts such as gas coolers and reactors are used in addition to optimise the separation
efficiency for gaseous substances.
In addition to a short description of different types of fabric filters, the following explications particularly
provide remarks concerning additional measures for the efficient chemisorption and adsorption
of gaseous substances.
